Does intro/survey courses count as science gpa?

Yes.

On a side note, technically all the medical school prereqs are nothing but over glorified survey/intro courses.

Yeah, I'm a chem minor, which at my school is nothing more than prereqs (Basic Bio, Gen Chem, O-Chem) plus Biochem. When I talk to a chem major, it quickly becomes apparent how very little I know about chemistry.

Yup, those intro courses are pretty much chemistry from the 19th century. It's when you get into quantum chemistry, advanced organic, and physical chem, that you actually get a clue of what chemistry really is now. It's analogous to saying you understand math just because you've taken calculus 3, when in reality real math is topography and real analysis.
