If I say on my AMCAS that a LOR is coming from someone, but it never does, would that reflect negatively on me?

if you don't assign it to any school, then no one will see that you have a letter in AMCAS that never came.

if you already assigned it to a school, there's an option to say that the letter isn't coming anymore

if you mark it as not coming anymore, i highly doubt that anyone would ask you or wonder why it's not coming.

at MCW they say any additional/optional letters will only be considered until your app is completed. for me, that means i have an additional letter coming from my PI and I'm waiting for my committee letter, but if they get the committee letter first they won't read the PI one.

but yes, I doubt anyone will really care (unless it's required, obviously).
