I'm sorry if this has been answered somewhere else. I too tired to look it up, been reading about salaries so far. I just learned that there's a PA program in my city but its only 2 years old plus its Touro. Their DO program is the lease respected according to my ex who went to another DO school. I guess I just want to make sure that I would be equipped to handle the job when I graduate. I like being close to home and I can look after my mom who is always getting hospitalized. So my question really is if it makes that much of a difference on where you go.

Old: To facilitate networking, and Cheap: well, to facilitate you going there😉. This is a profession that places emphasis on showing your colors and proving yourself. We all get a level playing field at the Starting Gate (i.e.- The point at which you have passed the PANCE and gained certification). Beyond that, obtaining a Masters might help regarding market pressures (Not curricula).

Former PA here about to finish med school, and my opinion is no, it doesn't. You will learn 95% of what you need to learn on the job. Your supervising physician will teach you how he/she does things, and you will be expected to do them that way. Docs only care that you have a certificate and can start work. They don't care where it's from or how you did. Seriously. Grades DO NOT MATTER in PA school, nor does having a master's degree, at least in my experience. So choose your program based on convenience, cost, family, etc. Prestige can make a difference in medical school in some circumstances, not PA school.

No. You learn some in the classroom, more on your rotations and the most when you get out and work. In PA school just focus on absorbing as much as you can and pass the PANCE. From there, it will rest on your own shouders, and not on the "reputation" of your program. Best of luck and stay close to home.

Those other posters probably had/got contacts because there were many contacts (i.e.- They went to an older program).

Get in where you fit in...

PA school IS "adult education"...
Meaning you get out... what you put in!
