Hi,

I have a question, does it matter where you take your pre reqs? I'm thinking about taking the pre reqs in a 4 year Puerto Rico university because is cheaper and I can live with my parents while I'm doing it but will dental schools turn down my application because I went to a Puerto Rico university?

Also, will dental schools ask me for TOEFL exam even if I already have a bachelor's from University of Central Florida?

Another question, what GPA will dental school look at? general GPA or science GPA?

Thanks for your help!

They look at BCP/sGPA more than oGPA. But if your general gpa is really low compared to sGPA that might be bad. Also, as long as it's not a community college then it shouldn't be a problem taking pre-reqs at Puerto Rico, as long as its an acredited university. I do not know about TOEFL, but you should call and ask schools. I would guess they don't care about TOEFL, but would rather see you scoring higher on the Reading Comprehension section of the DAT.

My undergrad GPA is 3.2. What do you think? what options do I have?

Depends what you can bring that up to by the time you're applying. generally, a 3.5 GPA + 20 AA is good enough to grant an interview at most schools. a 3.2 requires at least a 21-22 AA. I recommend not taking summer classes unless you have to for prerequisites, but if you have to then your puerto rican school shouldn't be a problem.

I think that your performance on the DAT is either going to help or hurt you. If you do well on the DAT, then it will validate the grades your received at the Puerto Rican university. If you do poorly, schools will assume that the pre-reqs weren't that rigorous.

As others have said, where you go really does not matter. As long as you do well in your classes and then do well on the DAT, you are fine. If you have like a 3.8+ GPA and get an 18 AA, then schools might question why your grades were so high but your DAT so low.

i believe it doesn't matter, but check the sites of the schools you are applying to. Some schools limit how much CC credit they will take (I think this is a few schools). Also, most schools seem to recommend that all pre-reqs are taken at a 4-year universtity/college. That being said, they know people have to take some classes at CC. I would say use CC credit if you can't use your 4 year school, if you an take it at a 4 year school that is probably the better option.
