Hi all,

As the title indicates, I want to take the MCAT on June 2 (currently scheduled for May 20). I believe having the extra month (instead of only 15 extra days with the May 20 MCAT) after completing my finals will allow me to really improve my score.

Will submitting my MCAT score late (around July 2) affect my chances of getting interviews?

I don't think so! I submitted my application in August and was still granted interviews. You won't be one of the first submitting but it won't be very detrimental in my opinion. I'm retaking mine on the 18th of June. As long as you don't take it super late (July/August), you're in a good spot for the application timeline. If anyone else has another opinion, feel free to chime in! This has just been my experience 🙂

Shouldn't delay you at all afaik. IIRC MCAT scores don't hold up the verification of your application, and the amcas isn't transmitted to schools until July.

You can take it in June and still be moderately early. But you should start applying without your scores. May is the last time to take the exam and still get your scores back before you apply.

Ah, didn't realize it was earlier this year. Still, I don't think it would disadvantage him much, if at all, since the scores will be released before he gets most of his secondaries.

I'm taking it June 18th. From everyone (mostly medical students) I talked to they said my test date is essentially the last one you could take if you don't want to delay your application. Have your primary app and all your secondaries (some schools will let you do it with MCAT score pending, other won't) done so as soon as the scores come out, your application will be complete 🙂 Good luck to you and anyone else applying this upcoming cycle!

Wooohooo test buddy! Best of best of best of luck!

You can submit your primary AMCAS application to be verified without your MCAT scores. So you could submit your primary AMCAS application in early/mid-June, with at least one school designated, and then designate the rest of your medical schools when you get your MCAT score on July 2nd. That way you won't be facing a huge lag time in waiting for your application to be verified. If you submit your primary AMCAS application on July 2nd, your application wouldn't be verified until the end of July or early August.

Perhaps marginally. I took the MCAT last June and while my applications were complete by August, I felt the applicants who were baked by July had a slight advantage in obtaining earlier II. While I don' regret the extra study time, in and ideal world, its best to be all in complete by July. But don't sweat it, if you have a strong file w strong metrics, you'll get in.
