this gave me a little headache ..

first i was told that all Aminoglycosides can cause interstital nephritis

then was told that the only Aminoglycoside that doesn't cause interstitial nephritis is Lincomycin ..

a couple of days earlier i saw a question about that, and the answer was that Gentamicin doesn't cause interstitial nephritis !

aminoglycosides cause acute tubular necrosis.

interstitial nephritis is caused by NSAIDs, methicillin, ampicillin, rifampicin, cimetidine, or thiazides.

yup i know that, but some of them do not

which are these exactly ?

I was under the impression that they all did (with regard to acute tubular necrosis). Are you sure you didn't miss the question because you are confusing that gentamicin causes ATN, not interstitial nephritis?

sorry if that doesn't help clear things up that's all I've got.

You may have already found the answer, but I believe the issue here is that lincomycin is actually a lincosamide antibiotic like clindamycin, not an aminoglycoside. Aminoglycosides in general (including gentamicin) are indeed associated with tubular necrosis. Just as an aside, you will rarely (if ever) see lincomycin get used.
