I am taking Microbiology this summer, and just wondering if it helps with the DAT at all? thanks.

depends on the test.. bio questions are randomly given...

It may help with 2 or 3 questions. I wouldn't count on it on helping you with the DATs. But for dental school, definitely. Micro is a tough subject in every dental school. Throw in immunology if you have the chance to.

I think the best answer we can give you all is, "Potentially!" Looking back, genetics and human A&P would have been the most helpful upper-levels to have already taken... at least for my DAT! 🙂

Thanks everyone

yes it helps. Regardless of what questions you get on your dat, any proper study plan should include some micro.

I've yet to take microbio, but at my school I feel like it's completely useless.. It feels like diluted genetics, cell bio, immuno, biochemistry, and emphasis in bacteria combined all into one subject.
Perhaps I feel this way because I've taken a lot of upper division biology's plus a year of biochemistry?

Actually yes it can. I had a few questions from Microbiology on my DAT. One was about endospores. It may help you with maybe a few questions, but every point and bit of knowledge counts! 🙂
