deleting post...who knows how adcoms make decisions post-interview....

yes your personality sucks

obviously

sorry for deleting the post. i knew i would get these comments. i basically was discouraged because i've had two interview (which i'm way thankful for) but was waitlisted. i wasn't sure if my interviewing skills were awful or whether it's the overwhelming volume of applications schools have received. and yeah, i guess my personality sucks...i wish we could delete entire posts, but i've learned the hard way that you could only edit them!

good luck to all of us who are waitlisted!!

writing a 45 page lab report has just gotten to me today, i'm being sarcastic and mean for no real reason

just thought i'd put that out there

You can put in requests to mods to close a thread and they'll do it..

Doesn't mean your personality sucks. You may not have been a top-tier interviewee, or you may not have meshed well with the school's particular mission statement. For future interviews read the mission statement of the school you are interviewing at and make sure you think yoru answers click with that statement. Im not saying give false responses, but catering a bit to the adcoms is ok.

no worries! the title of the thread is kind of ridiculous. good luck on the lab report!

To OP: You are a beautiful person. People like you. You have a great personality. You've worked very hard to get here and you're doing a great job. Keep up the good work!

:clap:HOORAY FOR YOU!

(There, I did my good deed for the day)

this cracked me up. it reminded me of SNL's Stuart Smalley and his daily affirmations. i'll have to practice my personal daily affirmations also.

but you're supposed to do your good deed WITHOUT announcing it.😀 or it doesn't count.

Help79, don't be discouraged. The majority of interviewees do not get accepted, and at least you were not rejected. Out of the four schools that I've heard back from after interviewing, I got 1 rejection, 2 waitlists, and only 1 acceptance. Keep trying hard on your future interviews, and I'm sure you'll get in somewhere. Good luck!

god, you sound like you wrote the UChicago secondary essay...

...worst...essay...ever.

I also had two interviews and was waitlisted... but I was sorta expecting it... not because I did horribly at my interviews (I thought I did well) but because they were both my reach schools... I haven't heard a peep from the schools where my stats are competitive though... this process is just so strange to me. Good luck with the waitlists!

Haha, agreed. When I got rejected from UChicago post-secondary, my first thought was not "D@mn, I would've really liked to go there." but more like "WTF! I wasted so much time writing those awful essays!" Just kidding. (sort of)...

We all think it. I spent a little time worrying after I got my Vandy waitlist: wow, if I got an early interview and then wasted, it must mean that I'm personally repulsive. But that's probably just a touch illogical. Schools interview roughly twice the number of people that they accept, and some invitees have to be in the bottom half. Guess that's you and me. 🙄 Hope that's reassuring.

I think a lot of people could be personally repulsive when they're wasted, especially if they're bragging about an early interview while wasted 😉

if you're a donor you could delete them 😎

And what the h$ll, you should be happy you got waitlisted and not rejected - there's still hope!! On a side note, next time you go for an interview, check-out this page before you go

thanks everyone for your input. be it a dose of sarcasm, memories of SNL when the writers used to be good, encouragement from those who have "been there and done that" and links like these! it's a new day, so i'm adjusting my attitude. Eveyone, "you are good enough, you are smart enough, and doggone it, people like you!"

Best wishes to everyone this week!
