i was wondering if organic gets a lot harder than the first test or beginning material? If you do well on the first test, will you have to really step it up to do well on the others?

organic is one of the subjects that if you do not get the basics down you will suffer for the rest of the semester and beyond. it builds upon the basic concepts. so yes it gets harder but if you have solid background information, you will do fine. know your functional groups, electrophillicity, SN2 SN1 Elimination, it all ties w/ one another. memorize the rections and understand them. not knowing those organic reactions is not knowing ABC in english. good luck

O. Chem is actually a very easy class despite what you might hear. The main thing to do is just keep up on the reaction types and reagents. Spend some extra time on the mechanisms so that you can apply that to future reactions and understand how they work. O. Chem really only has a few basic mechanisms, but it has a lot of reactions. If you understand how the mechanisms work, then if you forget the reactions (and when you get to the final term you will have lost a few) knowing the mechanisms will make it relatively easy to work things out.
