I've been tutoring and mentoring through a program that helps finally disadvantaged high school students for more than 2 and a half years. I am getting paid hourly and am wondering whether this could count as community service.

Let me know!

I was in a similar situation, working for a mentoring program for underrepresented minorities and children from financially disadvantaged backgrounds for 3 years. For one of my secondaries (ASDOH) I specifically asked admissions if this would be seen as community service. Their response was "if the position was paid it is not considered community service", however it should still be mentioned in ur employment history and you can expound on it either in one of the essays or during the interview. I mentioned my work in my "Why ASDOH?" response and shaped my experience as community oriented employment which still shows that you are thinking of other people's welfare and elevating your community which is a key focus of community service. Hope this helps.
