It's fine to list research experience in a Research space of the Work/Activities section whether it was volunteer, paid, or for class credit.

Keep in mind that the label on this section of the AMCAS application is "Experience" not "Extracurricular". You can list activities-- including research-- that were done for credit. I frequently see volunteering in a homeless shelter that was part of the class credit for a sociology class and one well known school has a class on health professions that includes shadowing for college credit.
