Does Spanish Language count as a humanities???

Does Spanish Language classes count as humanities? I've taken several, and I will not make the 24 credit cutoff for many schools (such as JHU) if it doesn't count as a humanities. Also, I am hoping to get a LOR from my Spanish teacher who I've had for a whole year now and knows me very well. The alternative would be a LOR from a teacher that I know less but taught a literature class that I didn't do as well in (since I didn't participate all the time, and I think she knows I didn't read all the books).
