does step3 matter for rads at all?

should I just try to take it early and get it done or take it more serious? (please don't roast me xD)

You should take it as soon as possible and also need a 260 or above to be taken seriously in any radiology residency. Anything below that may get you kicked out / acceptance revoked.



Seriously though, the answer is no, it doesn’t matter at all

I am personally planning to take it early to have a more laid back intern year

It mostly does not matter.

However, fellowship applications do ask for your actual step scores, not just that you passed. Some competitive fellowships will use the scores to split hairs.

Having said that, you can still get a great fellowship even if you just pass step 3.
