Hi All,

I was wondering whether submitting a pharm school application early really makes a difference in acceptance such as submitting it in July after PCAT vs. Sept after PCAT? Please advise!

Thanks!

September is still pretty early. You want to see if the schools you're applying are rolling admissions, in which case early is better. Many schools probably won't start revising till September but I know like uop starts really early. The first tier is like august or something. I submitted November and I got into all my schools so Yea.
It's better to do it early I guess especially if you have lower stats

Check specifically with the schools you will be applying to. My school, for example, does not start reviewing applications until late October / early November, but does rolling admissions thereafter. Thus if your application is complete in October you have the same consideration as someone whose application was complete in July.

Checking with school is definitely a good idea; However... at my school they said that they have rolling admission starting in October, but in reality they did not start sending out interview invitations until January...

I wouldn't say that it matters so much. I had everything ready for my application by the end of July (letters of rec, transcripts, etc.) and then submitted it during mid to late August. Because I took the PCAT in mid September, submitting my application in August ensured that everything was ready to go and all they need was my PCAT score. I would definitely recommend doing that so that you aren't rushing to get everything in once you're done with the PCAT if you're taking it later in the year!

The reason why I asked such question is that I was planning on taking PCAT in July if I need to submit the application early for better chance of acceptance. However, I don't think I have enough time to study for the July test, so I am thinking of taking the one in Sept. Then I was afraid that might be too late. On the other hand, how do I know which schools have rolling admission? Do I just email/call them to find that out?

Thanks!

Yes. Apply as early as you can. I don't know what your GPA is but if it's on the lower side, the earliest is the best. I had a 3.3GPA and I was concerned plus because of my past I wanted to get it in early. I submitted end of August. Heard back beginning of September, interviewed and got in. I ended up only applying to that one school because I got in so quick. So yes, definitely apply as early as you can.

If your GPA is terrible. APply early (July, August,) September would be cuttin it.

if you have a 7.9 GPA, then yeah you have a little more leeway but being early never hurt anyone.

Think about it!

You are on the admissions committee, you are look at some kid with good ECs and good references but a mediocre GPA. Would you be more likely to accept him/her if you still have 100 seats to fill? vs like 2 seats?

Ealier you apply, the more seats you are competing for. which increases ur chances of getting in. THIS ONLY APPLIES FOR ROLLING ADMIN SCHOOLS!
