I am not taking too many credit hours because my classes include many labs and are very time consuming, also I do not need very many hours to graduate now, does this look bad during the quarter that I am applying? (this summer). Also, if I am taking 100 level class in addition to my major science courses does this look bad as well?

how many credit hours are you taking, including labs? also, how many have you been taking on average per semester in the past?

to chloe:
honestly, to my knowledge, none of that matters unless he does poorly this semester for some reason. as long as he is full time, and this drop in credit load is temporary, it isnt a big deal at all.

I've been taking 13-15ish range, we go on quarters and our full time is 12.

if you're full-time, and you average 14-16 credits, you should be fine. If you drop down to 12-13 for a semester, it doesn't matter. Honestly, they might not even notice (the AMCAS is pretty massive).

thanks for the info. i was just wondering if he has been full time most of the time. that's also good to know because i take 19 credits each semester but my very last semester will not have many at all. 😉

I ALWAYS had 12-13 hour semesters. Usually one was an easier class too. However, I took 2 classes each summer to make up for one less class each semester. I think it was an effective strategy, and it enabled me to work and support my expenses, which I think was viewed in a good light during the app cycle.

I took 10-11 hours per semester (I took 13 hrs only once) and it was no problem for me. However, I work two jobs (50-60 hours a week) so maybe they took that into consideration. Do you work?
