I'm having an issue with my uni being closed for fall break and me needing to urgently send my transcript. I can't overnight it because the registrar's office uses only FedEx, which won't deliver to P.O. boxes. Judging by the send date, I will be lucky if the AAMC receives my transcripts by 10/15, which is the exact deadline for some of the schools I want to apply for. Will the AAMC actually be working, and mark my trancript as "received", if it arrives on a Saturday?

Also, would the AAMC accept a transcript if I got it myself and via USPS express or UPS overnight (obviously without breaking the transcript seal)?

No they don't work weekends.

I believe you can still make the deadline, though, by submitting your primary and paying the fee without the transcript. AMCAS just won't process it until they receive your transcript. You should call them and ask for confirmation though.

Thanks; I will definitely do that. Do the schools not consider the transcript to be a part of the application? UCSF and UCLA, for instance, seem to require both the transcripts and the application by the deadline date. Is that not the norm?

My girlfriend is applying to dental school and said that their equivalent of the AAMC has a non-PO box address specifically for overnight shipping... I assume the AAMC has nothing equivalent?

Thanks to everyone for the help. I'm a late decision applicant but I'm going to make this work.

According to the AAMC:

An AMCAS deadline is the date by which the application and fee must be received by AMCAS. You must certify and submit your web application and pay the fee by 11:59 p.m. (ET) of the deadline date. It is not the date that the application must be received by your designated medical school(s).

Here's the list of deadlines by school.

Schools have a later deadline for when your application must be complete. At that point you will need your primary verified (with transcript), letters of recommendation submitted, and secondary application submitted (with fee paid). These are usually in December or January.
