well.. I am going to take the DAT for the fourth time in about 20 days.... I scored 18/18/16 - 17/17/19 and 18/18/20 previously.

but do you think I will get a harder exam version becuse I have taken it 3 times already or would it be random?

It's all random. You might even end up taking the same exam depending on how closely you've taken the previous 3. It seems the DAT has even gotten easier too, or the quality of applicants has increased, one of those two.

are you taking cDAT or american DAT?
18/18/20 is acceptable, i don't think you should dwell on the DAT too much.
by no way am i trying to discourage you, however, if you've taken it 3x, what makes you think this time you will have huge increase in score? i think 18/18/20 is not too different from 20/20/20. unless you can consistently get something like 21-23/21-23/21-23 on practice, i don't think another sitting will help too much.
Good luck

I have taken the test 3 times also....my last score was 18AA/19TS/20PAT and I was told to by ad com of 2 school I need to retake due to my low GPA.

The only test I can see that I haven't taken is the one with the piano passage. I've had the floating bridges, crocidile and other passage can't remember right now. I will be re-taking in Oct......The last time I took the DAT was in 2007 so who knows which version I will get.

well I am taking the American DAT ... and I am not gonna take it unless I do really well on practice..I didn't get accepted with my 18 last year ...so I have to improve my DAT score. I have 3.3 GPA

I do not think DAT gets easier or harder. DAT is a standardized test at best.
You should not even think about wether it is getting easier or harder. You need to make sure you know your sciences very well and underestand every concept that is included in ADA handbook. Once you learn everything deeply, you wouldn't care about things such as if the test is easyier or harder and etc...

Hey everyone,

I was just browsing the forum and saw this thread, and it piqued my interest because I also have taken the DAT multiple times. I just wanted to encourage all of you that you CAN improve your scores.

I took a year of post-bac classes to help my GPA after going back to school, and then I studied hard for about a month and took the test a couple of weeks ago.

Here are my scores:
1st time:
BIO: 17 | GC: 17 | OC: 15 | QR: 16 | RC: 21 | TS: 16 | AA: 17 | PAT: 18

2nd time:
BIO: 24 | GC: 23 | OC: 23 | QR: 20 | RC: 28 | TS: 24 | AA: 24 | PAT: 21

Hopefully you can do it, too!

Hey everyone,

I was just browsing the forum and saw this thread, and it piqued my interest because I also have taken the DAT 4 times. I just wanted to encourage all of you 4th-timers that you CAN improve your scores.

Here are my scores: (the first 2 times were way back in 2004, so I won't give those)

3rd time:
BIO: 17 | GC: 17 | OC: 15 | QR: 16 | RC: 21 | TS: 16 | AA: 17 | PAT: 18

4th time:
BIO: 24 | GC: 23 | OC: 23 | QR: 20 | RC: 28 | TS: 24 | AA: 24 | PAT: 21

Hopefully you can do it, too!

Great job!
I hope mine turns out as well as yours

Great job on your DATs, littlebabytooth!

I was wondering, how did you go about to retake the DAT a 4th time? I am contemplating to retake it again for 4th time, too. Would I need to get permission from a dental school or undergrad school? Any heads up would be appreciated. Thanks!

How did you prepare for the DAT to improve so much? 🙂

nice scores littlebabytooth. just curious, where did you take the post bac science courses at?

Awesome job! What materials did you use and how did you study? Also, how did you take it for the fourth time?
