I've never been good at critical thinking. I did horrible on my SAT reading section even though I got a perfect score on the vocab section. I thought the mcat would be a test of memorization but I could've not been more wrong. I admit I'm one of those people who don't like to understand things and would rather just straight up memorize something for a test and forget it afterwards. However, I'm very good at memorizing and can sit down and memorize stuff for hours. Will this help me on step 1 or is step 1 like all other standardized tests and require critical thinking?

Well there are components of critical thinking. They find unique ways of asking material you may be partially familiar with, so you'll have to apply the knowledge you have to new situations. It also tests other things like ethics, which you can't just memorize.

A lot of it is pure memorization and recognition.

lol...what? troll post?

you don't like to "understand things"? why do you want to go into medicine?
