While viewing a soil sample under the light microscope you notice a rod-shaped cell without a nucleus. The only correct assumption you can make of the cell thus far is...

Possible answers:
it contains mitochondria
it contains lipopolysaccharide (LPS)
it is a gram-positive bacterium
it contains peptidoglycan
it is a eukaryotic cell

Answer: it contains mitochondria.

I'm not sure if the question makes sense to me.

Honestly, when I first read it, "rod-shaped cell without a nucleus" stuck out the most to me in the sentence.

Without a nucleus means it's prokaryotic. Rod-shaped reminded me of a type of bacterial shape called baccilus.

Given that it is prokaryotic and there are 2 prokaryotic domains (bacteria and archaea) as the person mentioned above, prokaryotes don't have mitochondria......prokaryotes should not have double-membraned organelles.
 
A rod shape cell without a nucleus can either be a bacteria or an archaea. The only thing common in both of them is mitochondria.
The cell walls of archea dont have peptidoglycan so do they dont have gram stains.

This is incorrect. Bacteria do not possess membrane bound organelles such as mitochondria.

Correct answer is it contains peptidoglycan which is the component of a bacterial cell wall.
