I took this class titled "Business Statistics and Management Science" as a required course for my Business major. I was wondering if it fits under BCPM as a statistics course, as the course is identical to the introductory statistics course at my school, only that it has Business applications. Here is the course description:

"This course teaches quantitative methods used in data analysis and business decision-making. Topics covered include: descriptive statistics, correlation and regression, hypothesis testing, statistical quality control, forecasting, linear and integer programming, and computer simulation. Business applications of these techniques are emphasized. Students in this course will acquire expertise in computer-based methods for data analysis and decision-making, through computer analysis of business datasets."

Thanks in advance for the help!

Yes, it counts. The rule of thumb is if the coursework primarily consists of material that reasonably falls under the "math and science" category, regardless of the context under which it's taught, you can use it.

On the other hand, if you took a course like "The History of Chemistry", which would primarily consist of history lessons with some chemistry sprinkled in, that would not count.

If this Hist. of Chem fell under a CH designation you would be able to claim it. I claimed several "fluff" chemistry courses required by my major as BCPM.

OP: if it has a math prefix, go for it. If it has a business prefix for the course number I would still put it down. If AMCAS doesn't like the designation they will change it.

probably they won't count as BCPM. my stats courses were in the poli sci dept. and amcas doesn't count them as BCPM. the content of the courses was typical statistics and should qualify based on course content, but because of the departmental designation they do not. I suspect the same would be true of courses with a "business" designation

If you think it's stats, list it as such. The worst that can happen is that AMCAS changes it. There's no harm in trying and it won't delay your application.
