I found this position where I am basically doing the work of clinical research associates (mainly on a computer), where I look at patient Electronic Medical Records, labs, tests, comments, diagnosis, everything, even scans of tumors, to update the status of patients who are in clinical trials (mainly cancers) for the department of clinical research. I also help maintain the database for the hospitals tumor bank, as new samples leave and come in, and as a part of the job I get to sit in on weekly tumor board meetings with doctors who basically present their findings on tumors, hang up brain scans, etc. and take requests for samples to and from providers.
I also get to shadow some clinical research doctors if I want, off the clock. It seemed like the job is a mix of clinical/non clinical/mainly non clinical. And I didn’t know how this would compare to scribing or being an EMT like a more traditional clinical job.
Thanks!
