I am currently working in a lab at a pharmaceutical company, but I'm not sure if schools would see this as research since all I'm doing is running a bunch of assays to validate existing assays...

I'm sure there are tons of existing threads on this topic, thanks in advance for your advice.

At the very least I think it counts as lab experience. I'm actually in a similar position (I'm working at a diagnostics company) but I did do a couple of research projects and clinical trials so I've been counting it as research. I don't know what exactly you're doing, but if you want to message me feel free, we can compare notes 🙂
