Medical Does this count as shadowing?

Does shadowing mean exclusively following around a doctor, nothing else? Next semester I'll be following doctors around but it's for helping them screen patients for clinical trials, coordinate stuff between them and nurses/other staff, and update them on the bureaucratic side of said clinical trials (non-paid). I'll be with them in their offices and in the patient room when they interact with patients. Most of my time will be with the doctor, but some of it will be in my boss's office writing press releases. Is it a stretch to say this is shadowing? The hospital this is happening at has really strict guidelines and limits on shadowing, so my boss found this as a "loophole" so I can interact with physicians and still help the research department out.

You want to see what a doctor does day to day. The shadowing is really for you to see if you can see yourself doing this for the rest of your life. The shadowing you’re talking about won’t help you with that.

Sorry, do you mind clarifying? I'm confused on how knowing what a doctor does day to day differs from following them around. I did some shadowing at a low income clinic where I did the same thing minus the research stuff, does that mean both of these experiences won't count?

Shadowing means you see how doctors approach the practice of medicine in their interactions with patients, and what a doctor's day is like.

Also the idea is to see how doctors differ in their approach to Medicine

Shadowing for me involves the interaction between the professional (doctor), other professionals, and customers/clients/patients on a routine-as-possible basis. If what you describe is within the usual daily or weekly set of tasks, it's okay as long as you aren't doing any work in support. Otherwise you would be scribing or being a clinical research coordinator, etc. The focus should be on how the doctor handles these duties and why he/she enjoys doing these things every day, and your questions and observations should center around that.
