I was chosen out of a group of 10 people to write a letter in support of a professor for a distinguished teaching award and they got the award! Should I note this anywhere in my application/experiences/interviews,etc? It doesn't really matter to me: if I can put it somewhere that would be great, but if not I'm still happy for that professor!

I wouldn't mention it..... the achievement belongs to the professor. I know of many students (myself included, twice) who have been asked to write letters like this. Oh well, good luck!
