Does anyone know if UPitt screens? If so, does UPitt guarantee an interview like Vandy or not? Any other info on Upitt would be great.

Thanks,

I assume they do screen (their letter for their secondary "invites" you to complete the secondary...) and I don't think they guarantee an interview. But, they do grant some pre-secondary interviews (200 according to the admissions director, however EVERYONE I've met who is/was interviewing there got an invite before their secondary, so I'm not sure how accurate that figure was...). But these are all assumptions on my part... perhaps a current student has some more definite info. Good luck!!

They definitely screen presecondary as you can tell by the rejection thread- Though I get the feeling a few of these rejections are for out of state applications. I do not think they guarantee an interview if you are invited to submit a secondary. Good luck.

Was it before they received the secondary or before it was submitted? If before submitted how long before?

Thanks,

apparently they invite some interviewees before the secondaries or recommendations are submitted, although I'm not sure how long before. I've noticed a trend of getting the invite 1 day before or after getting the secondary invitation... (but like I said... they say this is only for roughly 200 applicants, you certainly still have a great chance of getting an interview after your secondary has been submitted...)

Pitt doesn't give any significant preference to in-state, so they would not be rejecting people due to out of state status. (An MS1 explained it to me as, they're really a private school, but are classed as "public" because in-state students receive a $5,000ish scholarship from the state.) As for this: (200 according to the admissions director, however EVERYONE I've met who is/was interviewing there got an invite before their secondary, so I'm not sure how accurate that figure was...): The people with the presecondaries are likely to have heard back much earlier due to not having to wait through the completion process, therefore they would schedule their interviews earlier, therefore the people who have interviews early in the process are disproportionately skewed toward people who got presecondary invites.

i looked at your profile.
ahhh, you got into roch!!! i really want to go there. I have the exact same MCAT score as you, but a much lower gpa. I'm applying next year. What do you recommend I do? I noticed you had a lot of music/service ECs. Can you be more specific? I think the only way I can have a slight chance at getting in uroch is if i improve my ECs, seeing as my GPA has been steady at 3.56 for the past 3 years. I also did a ton of music in high school, but dropped it all in college. But one of the major reasons URoch is so appealing is cuz I know they have a wonderful music community (Eastman rocks!!)

Anyway, any advice would be much appreciated. how was the interview process?
