Does Volunteer work count..need advice?

I'm currently in NY and i just finished my step 2 ck and cs exams.
Sleeping most of the time but I just got a tip to join a volunteer group at a hospital ....i was wondering if this would help my eras applcation to get into a residency or would it count as a US clinical experience

What does this "volunteer group" do, exactly?

I'd do volunteer work because I like it and not because I want to get ahead. 🙂 Otherwise, it won't be volunteer work now, would it?
