Does work/activities matter?

Now that I have your attention, I'd like to ask my real question. Does the wording/elegance of the work/activities matter? If I describe a non-meaningful activity (idk, random club where I was an officer) can I just say I was secretary for this club and did x, y, and z over sophomore to senior year?
