Does your acceptance get revoked if you fail a non-prereq class?

Ok, this semester is my last semester and none of the classes I'm taking are required by dental schools I received interviews from. I just need to finish them in order to graduate. Now I was wondering what happens if I fail this class. Do you think I will get my acceptances revoked? I have a free 2014 spring semester prior to dental school so I can always retake OR take another class to graduate.

also the rest of my classes are good (As and Bs) but this one class is just so strange and the fact that I have to miss classes for interviews don't help either.

what do you think?

thanks.

If you fail the class, its possible acceptances would be revoked. I would suggest dropping it for the W and re-taking in the spring if you are in danger of anything lower than a C.

Does anybody know if they're is a steadfast rule regarding a GPA you need to maintain after acceptance? Is it just C's or better in everything you said you were going to take ?

I've never heard of any "steadfast" rules, but I wouldn't really want to have to find out.

Of course I agree with you and hope I would never even have to worry about a situation like that, but it's always good to know the rules I suppose.

On a related note, anyone have any experience on altering the planned/in-progress courses?

From what I've gathered on SDN, it doesn't really seem to matter so long as you aren't dropping prereqs.

I suppose if you went from an 18-hour semester of science classes to a 12-hour semester of underwater basket weaving courses, they might raise an eyebrow... :naughty:

I wouldn't sweat it. There are tons of legitimate situations that could arise to alter those planned courses. And hey, maybe one of those reasons is just, "I don't WANT to take vertebrate physio." LOL!

I was hoping to graduate this after this semester but I guess it is better to take a 'W' then fail and retake the class OR another class in the spring?

also this will be my 4th W if I decide to drop. But only one of those W's was a prereq for some schools (I retook the class and got an A). The other 3 W's were some electives and other science classes not recommended by ANY dental schools

I dropped all my spring courses after acceptance. This included 2 pre-req courses. My situation was not typical though, and it took some bargaining. Make sure you are in contact with your DS about any scheduling changes.

My acceptance said that the offer was contingent upon "successful completion of the courses" that I outlined to them as planned courses. Ha good thing I got that dec 1 acceptance bc those fall grades were...

are you referring to completion of ALL the courses you listed you planned to take? I recently dropped out of Pharmacy School with all W's after submitting my AADSAS and TMDSAS. It says that I planned on taking courses this Fall and next Spring, both of which now will not be true.... some dentists have told me to not inform the schools because it won't matter.... but perhaps the post-acceptance transcript will cause the admissions committee to revoke the acceptance... tough call on whether to tell the schools or not.... was thinking about telling half the schools I applied to and not the other half :O!

(one interview so far, 11 other schools applied to)

I didn't read any of the postings. I am just answering the question the thread title

Yes, acceptance CAN be revoked. However, I have never heard of anyone having their acceptance revoked (maybe because no one ever failed? or no one ever reported it? or maybe they failed and didn't get revoked? I don't know...)

At my interview at Baylor they had us write out the future courses we planned on taking, and the acceptance letter referred to the completion of those courses.
