I asked my pre-med advisor and she said that being a non-traditional student was an asset. Is she just blowing smoke up my asset? I'm 31 by the way

I'm also non-traditional. If you have good scores you are generally more competitive than traditional students of equivalent standing.

The problem is a whole lot of non-trads don't have good scores.

I think it's all how you spin it. Older people usually are more mature and have life experiences that can make their application more interesting. On the other hand, if you've been sitting on a sofa eating chips for the last 9 years, then it might not help so much.

Also, there are lots of people over 30 in med school, so it can't be too much of a negative.

DOn't forget to check out the non-trad forum....
