For those of you that work the inpatient side, do you have iloprost on formulary? Is this a pretty standard medication for most hospitals? For those that do have it, how much do you stock?

It has recently been approved for severe frostbite, and I'm just curious how common it is, or docs in colder areas of the country should talk to their P&T committees about bringing it on formulary.

No, we have Flolan on formulary. Will that work for frostbite? We have a small amount of ice cream production in my vicinity. I see this as the only possible method of contracting frost bite.

Hypothetically, yes. But I don't know that there's data studying it for that purpose. If I was in a pinch, I'd probably try it, along with topical nitroglycerin.

There have been case reports of frostbite from local liquid nitrogen exposure for warts and stuff.

In this case they used sildenafil, nitroglycerine paste, and hyperbaric oxygen therapy to help. Other chemical plants nearby may also have something stored at ultracold temperatures. Never know. Though unlikely to require systemic meds, I would imagine. https://academic.oup.com/milmed/article/190/1-2/e429/7617861

We do not have it, though I do work in a cold part of the country. Our hospital is pretty rural and small though, so perhaps we are always a little late to the party.
