Does your school make you write papers?

We have this awful class: psych/social issues in dentistry. The class is terrible. Everyone hates the prof. I'm getting PTSD from going. Attendance is mandatory.

Anyhow, it's a 1 credit class & the hated prof is making us write two 5 page papers. We are pissed. This is fall of our 3rd year & we are taking ~30 credits.

Anyone else having to write papers like this? Are we just being whiners?

I'm in my second year and we've written a couple of papers. Is this a new class?

Is it two 5 page papers for the entire semester? I'd rather do that than take tests haha

all of 3rd year, it seemed we were either doing papers or group projects for all of our 1 unit courses. I hate both options.

Oh no! I thought all of that would be behind me when I finally got into dental school...

We have been in school 3 months and are on our 3rd paper and about to do our 1st group presentation. 👎 It's not terrible but I sure can think of a thousand other things I'd rather be doing in dental school right now (even science lecture). Seems like we are getting more work than previous classes since boards are going to be pass/fail for us.

I don't know about my school, I don't think we'll have to really write papers. Two 5 page papers, double spaced I assume, is not really that big of a deal. I suppose it sucks to have to write them for a class everyone hates on top of everything else though.

at mercy.. its 2 classes that have papers... psychology and ethics, each class is 1 credit and NOT pass/fail.

they are annoying, but so is the initial 16 months of any dental school... you have to deal with things (ex didactic) that aren't directly related to dentistry.
