Hey guys

I went to suny purchase for undergrad and have an abismal GPA ans SGPA. I have looked around and there is nothing i want to do more than be a physician. I worked full time as a patient care associate through college and also had to learn english from nothing since i moved to america senior year of college.

Anyways im gonna do a postbacc and then a SMP or whatever it takes to make my dream a reality. My question is, is it foolish for me to do postbacc at the same school i did undergrad in? SUNY Purchase is 15 minutes from my house and very cheap, which means i can quit my job and do excellent in the classes. I know the school is not nationally recognized, but the classes are small and the faculty is excellent.

Thank you for taking the time to answer me.

If it's your only option, why not?

I'm not well researched on the program, but I would definitely see what else is out there. Maybe a new change of scenery might be a good thing. You said that you had poor grades at that school, so is it the school you didn't mesh well with or was it something internal? If it was internal, that can be fixed. But if it was the school you didn't like, finding a different program would be best. As always, see what types of perks you get as a post-bacc. How do you get classes, tuition, advising, etc...

Good luck!

Thanks for the quick reply. The reason for the bad grades was i learned english as i went to college and i worked full time and went to school full time and it didnt workout well. The perks of this school is its cheap, and i can stay home and my parents are okay with it. I also have a per diem position which makes me some money i can survive on.
But a change of scenary might help, stony brook is my other option. But the big classes sizes and the doubled cost due to moving away is keeping me away. any other advice would be great guys

I would say yes - doing the same thing and expecting a different result doesn't seem to make much sense. I think a change of scenery might be better unless you can eliminate all the mistakes u made last time
do excellent in the classes.
On what basis? whats different then last time?

Those two things don't really seem to work together.... excellent faculty are typically at nationally recognized university. You get the odd one or two great professors at smaller schools, but don't over sell this - its not being bought

I now speak fluent english, I actually got a 9 on the MCAT in verbal. I worked full time previously, i wont be working this time around.

although now that you mention, my parents have caused me alot of problems. Moving away would probably take care of that. i have to calculate my financials and see. thanks for your response. SUNY SBU also has a link-in program that i might work towards if i could.
