I want to do summer research at a school that I don't go to. I have emailed some ppl at other institutions, but they never responded. Is it nearly impossible? 🙁 I really wanna spend my summer elsewhere...

If it is volunteering work I don't see anything that would stop you. Generally though profs are busy and they have stacks of resume lined up.
