Doing worse on your DAT Retake

Has anyone RETAKEN the DAT and actually done worse the second time?

I'm scheduled to retake at the end of the month (first time scores :AA-19, PAT-22, TS-19 (Ochem-17, Bio-23, Gchem-19), QR-17 and RC-21), hoping to raise my Chem scores enough to be competitive for California programs.

I've been holding off on submitting my app until I take the test, but now am freaking out that I should've submitted sooner just in case I do worse. I keep reading that statistically people do WORSE!

Your highest score will be the one used. So I don't think you need to hold on to your application. There is a part in the application that says mark here if you plan to retake your DAT or something like that (if i remember correctly).

According to the ADEA guide, some schools only consider the most recent score, not the highest one.

My bad, I had the wrong idea. But anyways AAM2013 this goes to you:
Either way, if ADEA considers the highest or the latest, if you retake it, you have to be confident that you will do it better this time. Right now you are clearly insecure, and reading stats don't help in this case because everyone prepares differently for exams. Perhaps they thought it wouldn't be needed to study as hard this time. It does not mean you will do worse this time, or better, that depends on other factors, including how much effort and time you put into it.

It doesn't look good. It would better if you got 13s across the board your first exam and then 20s your second try.
