Fellow docs/medical students
I know many of you donate money to the ASAPAC (political action committee). I think that's great. Please continue to do so. Hopefully the members who have joined the ASA have been getting emails from the ASA urging them to donate.
I think it's very important that each attending/resident donate SOMETHING to the ASA. Residents, everyone is strapped for cash. I understand the frustration that many of you feel...you're overworked, yelled at, dont feel appreciated at times, therefore, you are discouraged at the fact of donating money to the ASA. You feel like the ASA isnt doing anything for you because the CRNAs,etc are gaining ground and are trying to independently practice, etc.
This is all true to an extent. However, it's very important to donate to our PAC because that's the only way to get things done. As many of you know, it's a mandatory part of a CRNA education to have some of their tuition money go toward their PAC. That is why their PAC is so strong..they're well funded.
I urge each doctor and medical resident to donate something to the ASA PAC. Residents even $10 is good (think of it as a drink at bar that you're giving up). Attendings, I know you guys can spare some more.
Let's secure our future...this is the only way to do it.
