Are private schools accepting students that donate money? Do you think a private school is going to deny someone who let's say donates 40k or 50K to school? Aren't some of these institutuion driven by money and corporations?
Let's talk.

I really hope not, but if so I doubt 40-50k will do it. Thats only about a years worth of tuition so it won't make much of an impact on the school. This topic has been discussed before, try doing a search. I think the consensus recommendation was to donation six figures, give or take 100k

my only assumption is that you should donate a minimum of the amount that would pay off your 4 years of tuition... that way if you drop out for any reason... they still have your tuition, and never really lost any money by losing a student.

Thats a good point, anyone care to give me a loan

I have heard stuff about this, but like others have mentioned, I doubt 50k would do much to help you gain an acceptance.

To really make a difference, you are probably looking at donations somewhere around 200K.

could you take your donation back if you still get rejected?😀

If a donation, irrespective of amount, would do it, private schools would not need to go through the application process.

The net worth of USC in 2001 exceeded $3 billion. Do you really think $50k, even $200k is going to get an acceptance? By the way, NEVER joke about it to an institution. For some reason they don't think it's funny.

Doc_toothache.. I agree there, my friend's dad is actually a dentist and has been donating a lot of money since he graduated to that school. He was actually talking about how mad he'd be if his son didn't get accepted to the d-school and how he'd have a word with some people.. well his son decided not to do school so i guess im the last hope 🙂 haha jk but yeah I'll have to agree with doc toothache on this one, think of all of the rich students applying coming from ortho's dentists and any other dental field. It would turn into the rich gets in every time. Doesn't seem very reasonable.

I know of someone who's parents donated close to a mil for them to get into a particular medical school...let's just say he took the MCAT as a technicality 😉

but the reality is that most dental schools don't have a huge cut of that money pie.

even some of the most distinguished schools have trouble budgeting. I've heard admissions directors say that a huge percentage of annual operation costs are based off of student fees.

but, still 50k ain't gonna get the job done.

quarter mil+ and we might be talking. hahah

So you are saying in the case of your friend 1 mil got him/her in even though he/she didn't deserve to be accepted? Will they need to shell out another mil for passing grades? The more critical question is whether or not this person will ever graduate if the acceptance was not deserving. In general, a good "connection" may get you an interview without a guarantee for acceptance or graduation. As for the technicality, why bother? At least in dentistry there are some (~5% in some ds) that are admitted without a DAT.

I have never heard of someone getting in without taking the DAT. Where is this (5%) statistic from?

Thats probably from kids who got in a 7 year program in undergrad, right?

You don't donate the money to the school, unless you want to donate a remodel of some classrooms or a redesign of clinic space. You donate money to the alumni association at the school. This way the money becomes liquid for anything the dean or anyone in the alumni association would like. It makes a school look good to have alumni donate money and everyone has a pet project that cannot get money through normal processes.

you know, there's always getting into d-school on your own merit.....call me old fashioned.
