I have finished submitting my primary and secondary applications, and have completed an interview while I'm still waiting to hear back from the rest of my schools.

My question concerns my course work this fall and next spring. Will I need to forward my grades for this semester and/or next semester to medical schools or can I relax a little now as far as grades go?

Thanks!

😀

Hmm, I would not start slacking until you are certain. Med schools will eventually have to get all of your final transcripts so don't go failing any classes. But, you can relax a little bit.

Your pre-med there is no such thing as slacking.

Sing to the theme song of Walker Texas Ranger:
In the eyes of a pre-med,
The unsuspecting weedout
Had better know the truth of wrong from right,
Cuz in the life of the pre-med there is no rest,
studying until he can't stay awake,
When your in library look around you,
Cuz that's where the pre-med are gonna be
^^^^ By the way, I copyright this ****

Thanks for the advice.

Yes, we know, you did start a whole thread about this....

Live it up man. College is supposed to be the best years of your life. That said, don't start failing all your classes or anything.

If you had your fall finals already, you're a little late for senioritis. But you still have a chance in the spring. 😴

senioritis is leads to senioroma, a progressive, terminal illness. tread carefully.

To the OP: Yes. Do yourself a big favor and live it up big time during your last semester of college. Do everything that you've wanted to do and haven't done. Do everything that you love to do to excess. Indulge, go crazy, make silly mistakes (nothing that will get you arrested).

Think of it this way. You'll be more content, relaxed, and at peace when you jump into medical school because you were just living it up. That way, you can happily hit your first year running.

So do most med schools require you to forward your senior grades or not?

I don't know, but I would guess that your best bet would be to e-mail the schools that you care about most and see how you could go about this. Also, think of some other things you want to update as well, so it is not just about your grades.

Don't slack off until you have an acceptance in hand. If you start getting low grades and have to reapply next season due to a late application, your GPAs won't be as competitive the next time around.

Exactly right. The OP should not relax until he/she has an acceptance in hand. It would be a nightmare to be a reapplicant with a drop in gpa. Reapplicants are required to improve their application and a downward trend in the gpa would probably be fatal.

Don't get overconfident. You need a bird in hand.

Yes, you will be required to forward a certified college transcript from the registrar prior to your med school matriculation. So don't screw up.

Well, I am currently taking 12 hours this semester, which I am on the borderline of getting a B in every class. I'm taking physics II, biochem, and ecology. I think just letting loose and just getting 12 hours of Bs will drop my GPA from a 3.88 to a 3.78 or so. So when I say relax I'm not meaning that I'm about to fail a course or two.

Would that really affect anything? I don't think I will have trouble getting into a medical school, more of a matter of which medical school so I don't think the next application cycle will apply to me.

Thanks for the advice.

Uh, am I misunderstanding something? It is almost Christmas, and you have had one interview, and you are totally confident that you will be admitted this cycle? Are you clairvoyant? I like a self confident guy, but it seems that you are taking it to the extreme. Lots of people with a 3.88 gpa or higher get rejected and are left holding the bag every year.

Frankly, if I were you, I would be a little nervous at this point in the process and would be checking my mail box anxiously every day and not comtemplating slacking off.

Logic is not allowed!

Easier said than done... we've got this perfectionist routine drilled into our bones by now, and I'm having trouble truly relaxing even with acceptances in hand. I really should be taking it easy, because entering med school burned out is a recipe for disaster... :lame:

That is nice. But you have an acceptance. The OP has had one interview and he is ready to kick back, start partying, and let his grades slide senior year. I am suggesting, gently, that the OP should probably wait until some school actually decides that he is qualified to be a doctor, before he goes into party mode.

Just saying. Seriously, one interview, and his future is in the bag? Really?

Yeah, I agree. No offense, OP, but if I had 1 interview and 0 acceptances at this point in this cycle, I'd be freaking out. :scared:

You do not choose senioritis. Senioritis chooses you.

I'm praying my GPA doesn't tank this semester due to senioritis. I have it really bad this semester, whats the cure for it??

No cure, only more mind-numbing boredom until graduation.
