this was my second time taking the DAT. I studied about 6-7 hours a day.

January 2011 DAT
Bio – 14
Gchem – 23
Ochem – 17
PAT – 17
QR - 16
RC – 15
AA – 17
TS – 17

Today’s Scores
Bio – 20
Gchem – 22
Ochem – 20
PAT – 21
QR - 19
RC – 20
AA – 21
TS - 21

First of all I would like to thank every1 on SDN because without this site I would’ve been screwed big time.

Breakdown:

Bio – AP cliffs, Destroyer. I read the cliffs 5 times and destroyer 2wice. Some questions on the test were verbatim from destroyer. I think I got two of them that were ditto. Regardless there were certain things I was pissed about such as NO PHLUM questions showed up AT ALL. I studied my ass off for that. No circulatory systems, excretion systems, plants, mitosis, meiosis, embryology either. I felt like I was sitting there answering questions about evolution and the early earth atmosphere. Regardless I’m glad it’s done with.

Chem – I’ve always been good at chem. I studied with chad’s quizzes and dat destroyer material. This is all you need. I went through the destroyer 3 times. I was unfortunate again in this section that I got a couple of lab questions which was weird because last time I took it, there weren’t any. This test mainly contained questions about vseper theory and stuff like that. Nothing too tricky. I must’ve worked through stuff fast, probably the reason I missed questions here and there.

Ochem – I absolutely suck at ochem. I went through the destroyer twice. I started studying for ochem two weeks before my test with chad’s videos and destroyer. These two things were golden. The roadmaps in destroyer are freaking helpful as well. I was happy with a 20 because I was expecting a lot worse. Know your reactions well!!

PAT – CDP is very helpful. Although, the keyholes on the real thing were a b****. Angles were pretty tough too. TFE, Cube counting, hole punching, and pattern folding were a joke.

CDP Scores – first 5 tests. The rest I didn’t end up doing.

QR – It wasn’t as hard as I remember and the calculator wasn’t as glitchy either. I didn’t get any distance and speed problems. Most of them were algebra problems and time wasn’t an issue for this section. I practiced with math destroyer.

RC – I never practiced this section so I can’t help you guys out there. I just read through the paragraphs after reading each question making a mental note of where each and everything was.

I never took a full length practice exam before and I just practiced in sections because the material was the issue and not sitting through a full length test, so I never took one. I brought DAT achiever with 2 weeks remaining and it was an absolute waste of money because all it did was discourage me.

Overall I am ok about my scores and the reason is my GPA is extremely low. I just graduated from UCI with a bio sci deg. 2.9 gpa overall and 2.8 sci. gpa. I have tons of extracurricular activities such as dancing troupes (3 years), volunteering at hospitals for about 300 hours, shadowing dentist for about 200 hours, and research for over a year. I am sending my applications out tomorrow but I am prepared for the fact that I will not get in, unless there is a miracle.

Good luck to every1 that is taking the test and hopefully this helps. If you guys need help just PM me 🙂

awesome improvement! It'll def help offset GPA.

I felt like I was sitting there answering questions about evolution

test mainly contained questions about vseper theory

It's always fun when i'm burnt out on a subject telling myself it probably won't be on the exam and I read a breakdown that mentions that exact topic. YES :/

Wow..major improvement from last time! Congrats! What did you do differently this time? Did you put more effort into studying? Or did you just use the wrong materials to prepare?
