Hi:
I took my DAT few days ago, and thought I share my experience since you all have been really helpful and supportive. Here are my results:
BIO 22
OC 25
GC 27
PAT20
RC 23
QR 26
AA 25
TS 24
Bio: Just like everyone mentioned, while Kaplan covered most of the topics, many questions still caught me off guard. I've only had one semester of gen bio, so I study both Kaplan and Cliff's AP bio to get more familiar with the topics.
GC and OC: They are a lot easier than Kaplan and Topscore. I practiced by using Cliff's AP Chemistry and EK OC 1001 after reading through Kaplan's blue book. For OC: the questions are mostly about SN1/SN2/E1/E2, couple of nomenclatures, acidity and basicity. For GC: periodic trends, lots of gas law questions.
PAT: Aperture and pattern folding questions were a lot tougher (at least in my case). Half of the angle ranking problems are easy, half are extremely difficult. I usually have about 15 min to double check my answers on Kaplan and TS practice tests, but I almost ran out of time on the real thing. I also used acethedat.com for practice with this section. Their science sections are terrible though.
RC: This is my weakest section. English is not my first language, and I am a slow reader. I think being really focused during the test helped. My topics were genes, stock market, and astronomy.
QR: I didn't study much for this section except for memorizing some trig formulas.
Just want to thank everyone for your help and support. I am keeping my fingers crossed, and hope to hear from the schools soon.....
