First off let me say that I think this site is somewhat helpful in certain aspects! However, I think that the site overall has done people more harm than good! My intention was to attempt the daT yesterday, however after 4 months of 8 hr./day study hard core all day, tutoring all sciences, helping kids dominate chemistry classes and biology classes, immunology (med school level from a harvard trained professor) and a&P also. I mean these people get A's .Attending classes i.e gen chem 1&2 bio 2 taught by awesome professors and getting math tutoring from a guy who I would put up against any doctorial level math student in the country. And still after all this you mean to tell me that I am not ready for the DAT????? WTF!!!well I dont know if it would have paid off on the real exam but I did not feel right about it so I cancelled!! This site has only discouraged me by all of the FALSE DAT scores!!! I initially like most believed everything I read on here, now I know for A fact that over half of what is being posted about the DAT Is Total BS!!! I have heard first hand of people who post false DAt scores whether it be dental students pre dents or whomever. You cant tell me that the average dat score is like 20++. I know many people do score 20+ but Ill bet you it is not their first attempt! Some do I know but very few!! I am a 3.7 science student and very dedicated to my passion. This site makes one feel as if a 17-18 is a bad score!! In all actuality it is a very competitive score. I know there are many people who feel the same So I will just say that when i continue with my dat studies hardcore after fall semester I will not EVEN ONCE consult SDN. I am not trying to boycott Sdn or anything just putting in my 2 cents and probally my last post!? All this question guessing on here makes my flesh crawl!! there is no way anyone can tell you whats on the exam so there is no point in trying to guess what questions you will get as I know many people do!! It is a total crap shoot and it could be your lucky day or not!! I will say that topscore is a good indicator of your actual DAt scores!! So keep studying hard and stop trying to memorize questions! think of the most random thing they could ask because they will and anyone who say the real DAT is easy or basic is full of it!!I did not take the dat ( I cancelled my exam) I have friends who did and I will restudy with them again and take next summer and I know now how to approach.. I promise it is not with any study guide!!!! later!oh. Btw I know my grammer and punctuation is not proper so dont correct me on it!!Good thing dat isnt verbal!lol

I have taken the DAT TWICE!!!! Am I proud of it NOOO!!! I of all people know how freakin tough it is to score well on the test, but do I think it is impossible.....NO!!!! I will be taking it for a 3rd time in 2 1/2 weeks. Thanks to this site......I found out about the Destroyer, Schaums Bio, DAT Achiever etc......you are a complete fool if you think that these materials wont help you. Of course there is not any magical study guide out there that will guarantee a 20+ on the DAT but dont you think it is foolish not to use what resources you can. You, who have never even taken the DAT are not one to say anything about the difficulty of the test. You have no basis for the argument you are trying to make. You are just blowing smoke. I promise you I am better prepared this time around thanks to the new material that I have been utilizing. You are not making any sense and based on many of your previous statements you are someone in obvious need of a reality check. I dont understand what you are trying to do other than rant and rave.

the first time i tested i made a 18AA the second 21AA with a 22TS. i agree it takes many people 2 times to get in the 20s i know it did with me; however, the dat is not some impossible test. Many people do well on it, but the strange thing is that many people with 4.0s don't necessarily make 20s on the dat. It really comes down to detailed knowledge of the sciences and critical thinking ability. I don't know if people are all lying with their scores on SDN because in the end they are cheating themselves when they ask questions like what are my chances.

I agree with you. I think most of the people here have posted their true scores thou' there are still some people giving BS information. I think SDN is really helpful in term of you could get a lot of information that none of the website out there has. anyway. Good luck with yo all!

LoL....you are probably right...you are by far the most prepared person NEVER to take the DAT....I think that should count for something. Hell you shouldn't even have to take the DAT I mean look at what all you've done!! If I were an Adcom I would put ya through....you helped kids dominate chemisty class!!

Calm down kids. The DAT has become more conceptual and less straight-fact based, to some degree, probably in response to the fact that this time last year, every second person was getting sky-high(23+ scores) across the board.

And if some of you are taking the test in the next few weeks,shouldnt you be STUDYING and not arguing over silly things here?

Anyone with your (the originator of this thread's) experience should have no reason to be intimidated by what is or is not posted on this site. If you'd like to assume that there are a bunch of liars posting scores on here, then whatever. Many people, however, like to look at those high scores as a type of motivation, a sign that a 29 or 30 is not impossible. I got a 29 on the gen chem section, and I studied music! That should be motivation to anyone who has yet to take the DAT. You can be cynical and talk about what a crap shoot it all is, but what's that going to change? You can say our DNA is a crap shoot, but most people don't rant in public about it. By the way, though, I agree that spending much time on SDN isn't really the most productive use of one's time; it's just fun to get on occasionally and see how freaked out some people get about all of this (DAT, dental school, etc.).

With the ranting over DAT score trends in this one thread I have now proven it fact that yes, indeed, pre-dental students are 10-20% more stupid this year than last year.

Disclaimer: This fact is based on a sample size of 10-20 individuals where 1-2 of the samples were proven to be more stupid than those in another thread. Stupidity is based on those who have been banned from the site for inappropriate attacks on other individuals.

Dude you have no idea who you are talking to! I will tell you to yours and anyone elses face that 4 mths. is not even close to preparing for that test that was given yesterday!!! If you took the test that someone i know was given yesterday dude I swear you would cry! Either there is one DAT out there from hell or your right i do need to reevaluate as do many others b/c I promise you dude you would not last a day in my world!! I know what level of student I am and it is not to shabby and I promise you I will destroy the dat when do take it and I will def be ready and prepared to post REAL DAT Scores on here one day!!

I don't want to burst any bubbles around here, but in dental school we will be having more difficult tests on a weekly basis. If you cannot prepare yourself within a few days of an exam, then the ADA is doing its part of cutting you off early. Personally, I studied for the DAT about 2-3 hours a day for two months, then eight hours a day for the four days before my test.

As for people posting scores.... take everything with a grain of salt, and realize that overachievers spend their time on this board. When you are in dental school, no one cares about your DAT. What everyone cares about are their boards because those determine what kind of practitioner you can become.

I don't see any sense in relying on SDN to prepare you for the DAT. ADA says exactly what topics will be covered. Kaplan, Topscore etc give you a structure for your own study. SDN was helpful for me in the sense that I learned I wasn't the only one stressing for the DAT, since when was SDN a study guide?? The DAT was designed to be difficult, and I'm sure it was designed to have some questions which are pretty damn hard to figure out. That's kind of the whole idea. Don't get all butt-hurt cuz you thought the test was too hard. Gimme a break.

As someone mentioned above, you take what you want from the site and leave the bull out. Mostly people with good DAT scores are going to post on here. Don't compare yourself to them. Some may also bend the truth but then again, their scores should not matter to you. You focus on yourself.

If you look closely at predents you will see the average DAT scores of the members applying to dental school do not match that actual averaged DAT scores of the schools. So this means either the members of predents are playing with their DAT numbers, or only the "smart people" are posting their DAT scores. The point is that the numbers don't match.

Easy Now. Maybe some people on here do post innacurate scores, but they sure helped me. I got a 17 last year without this site. I made an educated assesment of what was said on this site and I think that it definitely helped. I would have gotten a 17 again without the resources found here. Good luck on your retake. By the way I studied for 2 months at about 6-8 hours a day. Good luck everyone, don't let this guy stress you out. YOU CAN DO IT.

my girlfriend talked me into taking the DAT (she's trying to get into dental school and wanted to see how i would do so she paid for it...haha)...well, i'm a biochem graduate student so i didn't think i would do too bad...anyway, i studied the section summaries in my basic science textbooks and did a few problems for a week or so and scored 19's across the board...with the exception of PAT. my gf showed me some tricks with that and i made a 22...which she said was really good...what do i know...the section summaries seemed to worked for me

are you talking about, if the afferent artery was clogged, would that a) increase pressure in the proximal conv. tub, b) increase pressure in bowmans capsule..etc.

If it is that dat you are talking about, you are ridiclious. I studied 1 month at about 2-4 hours a day, some days I not even studying, and i only used kaplans material, and i scored 98th% in ochem, 91% in bio, 95% gchem. Also, i am a community college student, and im 18 years old.

Also, you are a pathetic coward, what is wrong with you. What makes you think the people are faking their grades? Not like all 7000 DAT takers are posing stuff on here, only a small sample size, have you taken a statistics class mr. science?

This site has been an incredible help to me, throughout the entire application process. we must all take the things said on here with a grain of salt, and assess every statement's validity within its context. Ultimately, I can honestly say this site has greatly improved my chances of getting into dent. school, so I hope that 901's comments haven't scared anyone off. also, stop trying to scare people about the dat. it's not impossible!

Here's some advice 901, stop worrying about the dat, and take about 4 grammar classes. No matter how horrific "your friend's" score is, I guaranty it would be a highpoint in your application file, relative to the piss-poor essay you'll put together. God help you if English isn't your 4th language.
