I'm done filling out my application, but I'm waiting for one more letter of recommendation before I submit mine (just want to make sure that everything is situated 🙂 )

no...still working on it

what difference does it make besides peace of mind?

doesn't pharmcas only begin to forward the information ~August 1st?

^so rolling admissions doens't really matter up until august 1st??

question: you can turn in the application and then have the LOR writer send it in later right (after you turn in the application)?

Yes you can =)

I read this in the instructions for references and was confused....

"PharmCAS Mailing of References

PharmCAS will begin to forward your references to your designated pharmacy schools once your file is complete. PharmCAS will NOT hold your application for missing references."

So i'm assuming, you have to have the LOR in first? Otherwise they will forward the applications with missing LOR to schools, and schools may deny your appl. due to incomplete LOR???

I'm not 100% sure about this.

In the pharmcas instructions, it says:

"PharmCAS will begin to forward complete applications to pharmacy schools in August 2007. Participating colleges and schools will report admission decisions to applicants and PharmCAS throughout the application cycle."

According to that statement, Pharmcas will begin forwarding completed applications in August. It doesn't denote which day of August it'll forward information, so my guess is that it's August 1st.

However, in the pharmcas calendar, it says:

August 1, 2007 - PharmCAS begins to ship application data to schools on or before this date

By slapping a date on the statement, it (in a way) verifies that they'll begin forwarding information on August 1st. But that statement also says "on or before this date", so I don't know if it means they'll also be forwarding completed applications before August 1st.

I'll have to email them. Actually, I'll do it right now and respond to this thread later.

Also, one other statement I found while searching for their contact information is:

PharmCAS processing may take up to five weeks after your application, transcripts, and fee are received.

So worst case scenario, the last "earliest" date you should have pharmcas submitted/paid for is Wednesday, June 27th. That is exactly 5 weeks until August 1st. Unless they take MORE than 5 weeks to process (which, imho, is unlikely considering the low volume of applications at this time), or they start forwarding applications BEFORE August 1st, I'd say you're first in line to have the applications in.

Thoughts?

edit: writing the email made myself laugh. It says:

"Will pharmcas be forwarding completed applications on August 1st or before?"

it's really, just picayune...I wrote the email as if August 1st is a deadline

edit #2: for whoever's using one of the major unnamed prep books: what does picayune mean?

i think i remember someone on this forum saying that they send em out around august 1st...but they're dated. meaning those that applied on june 1st and those that applied on july 15th will have their applications sent at the same time but the adcoms will look at the june1st'ers

I believe it means trivial

ok...I got a response today from pharmcas.

Basically they're shooting for August 1st, but it could a different day close to that date.

I dont know if that necessarily means that applicants who turn in at june is the same as applicants who turn in at the end of July for rolling admissions.

For me, I have the entire application completed and all of the references have been completed. I took the PCAT today (June 23rd), and I hope to submit the application at the end of the month. Hopefully, this will be good enough to get me into my first choice school. Best of luck!

Sincerely,

wow its about that time of year again! Soon well have a new Roll call and everything.

2/3 references done and my transcripts are in. Personal statement is killing me at the moment as I'm not sure where to go with it.

PharmCAS does NOT represent all pharmacy schools. There are still 10-20% of school who do not use pharmacas so don't forget those rolling admission schools.

Although I believe finishing your application late June is kind of early...BUT considering it's an application that can and will change the rest of your life, what's 4-5 weeks early?!?

If you have free time, do it! If your personal statement is done, have another person review it. If your transcripts are all ordered, triple check with the school to make sure (they somehow always get "lost").

Also, last time I remembered, your pharmCAS app isn't done and sent to school until EVERYTHING is done. That includes having your LOR forms filled and received by them. Same with PCATs and transcripts.

And remember, you only get to SUBMIT once, so make sure there are no typos.

Good luck!

You stated that PharmCAS does not send out applications until the entire application is completed. What if you're planning to take the PCAT in August but you're applying to schools that don't require the PCAT? The reason why I'm asking is because my top choice in schools does not require the PCAT but my backup school does. I'll be submitting my application before my PCAT scores will be ready in order to be apart of the first round of applicants.

Pharmcas will send out your application after payment and when all transcripts have been verified. They will not hold an application waiting for a LOR or PCAT score. They will then forward any LOR's or PCAT scores that come in.
