OK I guys, I just wrote the DAT. I wrote it 6 months ago and this is how my scores improved

PA 22->23
RC 17->22
QR 17->22
GC 26->21
BIO 20->26
OR 26->26
TS 23->23
AA 21->23

I am very happy at the moment. However, I may just add, I am a little disappointed because I was aiming for a 24. I cant beleive I got 21 in chem because it is by far the easiest section on the DAT. Then again, I question if anything is easy. If you prepare, everything is easy! Clearly, I was not prepared enough

6 months ago I thought, with a 3.1 gpa and the ridiculous scores coming in, plus the fact that I am an international student, it would be nuts to spend another year in undergrad.
I took 6 courses last semester, and managed to get a 3.9 gpa. I am taking another 6 courses this semester again. December came by, and I am like is this it? Am i just a sitting duck waiting. The waiting game really was starting to get to me. I couldnt go party, because I felt guilty. How can you relax when you havent done your best?
I kept thinking there must be something I could do. So during New years DAY, I decided to write the DAT again. January 1st, half hungover, I started studying LOL. I only studied this month. I Finished destroyer, cliff AP, acheiver, topscore, math destroyer, orgo destroyer, 1001 mcat chem, kaplan testbank, kaplan blue book, cdm, cdp within january and managed to go to 6 classes as well. Pretty much, I became a hermit. I think I need to tell my friends that I still exist in this world. But Il tell you what. I have nothing to feel guilty now. And I am so sure that when I go party this weekend, I will be freaking LIVE.

So I finished the DAT. Esubmitted my new scores and my latest terms' gpa to aadsas. Please tell me some school is smart enough to realise that this is someone who would do anything to get in NOW. If its not too late, its ok. I think next year, the ball is in my court.

Biology- Start with Kaplan. It is the base for everything you need. Memorize it front to back. Then go ahead with Cliff. THis is where all your details come in. Then, work your way to destroyer. If you can do destroyer, you are set. Memorize destroyer bio front to back. kaplan test bank is good too. Wiki is essential for embroyology. Also, I read shaums bio but that was too boring. I had the notes ready from summer so I didnt bother

Orgo- Destroyer, kaplan, orgo destroyer. Il tell you what. Orgo destroyer is overkill. but it is 50 questions per section of just about every type of reaction. if you want to walk into the dat confident that you are going to KILL orgo. get it

RC- I took a course on speed reading during school. It was a 150 bucks well spent. I figured, being a slow reader just isnt good enough an excuse. I started reading books, and I started working on self improvement. It is a cycle, you read because it is good for you. You read books that will help you, which usually are books that you end up enjoying. You will be surprised how quickly your love for reading picks up. I think this is the most important passage for the DAT because it is highly related to NBDE scores. Oh, I also got 1001 MCAT reading. It is ridiculously hard. However, it will do amazing for inference questions

Chem- 1001 mcat chemistry, kaplan, destroyer, kaplan test bank. This is where you can seriously raise your TS and AA. Dont take it lightly. Work hard and get the marks! The questions are similiar to mcat 1001 chemistry and the dat really has no calculations. just concepts.

Math- destroyer, math destroyer, cdp. Very underestimated section. You need to constantly practise and practise till you get quick. It is soooooo easy to get stuck in a question. And math can make you very egoistic. It is practically impossible for me to give up on a question and go to the next one. Sometimes, you just have to tell yourself, MOVE ON. I got 17 on the last one because i spent 5 minutes on the first freaking question. MOVE ON! And seriously, learn to find shortcuts in calculations via simplication. THis only comes with practise. And math destroyer kicks ass!!

PAT- cdp, acheiver topscore. I was always good at this. I managed to get 21 in one of the acheivers and I was like pffff, peice of cake. Then again, CDP is the reason. you HAVE to get cdp. It will make you rock solid for the DAT. acheiver will scare you, which will only make you work harder

I think I have to thank a lot of people on this board....and wikipedia. I think that it is criminal to go to sleep studying on a concept in chem, bio orgo, or math without knowing it. if you dont fully understand a concept. dont sleep. You will feel like garbage while trying to sleep. You will get all sorts of voices in your head trying to justify that you can find the answer tomorow. No, WIKI it NOW. This voice is especially evident after acheiver, once you get 15s and 18s all across. I know acheiver is difficult, However, how can you allow it to be in your conscience that you still dont know something that you have been studying so long for? spend attention to detail!!!

I just want an interview this cycle, preferably cali. I would like to know the chances of the schools looking at my latest scores, because I really do wonder what the point of e update is if 95% of interviews are already in??

wow, great scores in such a short time.
how many hours a day did you study?
about the the kaplan test bank, how can I get them? I am enrolled in kaplan but they told me they don't have a test bank 🙁

I very rarely post on SDN but did want to put my 2 cents on something that was posted. Below is the quote;

"the dat really has no calculations. just concepts."

I work with DAT students in our classroom setting and talk to students across the country. It is public knowledge that there are many different versions of the DAT, not just one test. Although your test did not have any calculations, it is false to think that another version would not have many calculation problems. There is most definitely calculation problems on certain versions of the DAT. There is absolutely no way to predict what test you will get.

It is much better to be over prepared on test day than under prepared.

Congratulations on your great scores!
