So I just saw this article on CNN's front page. Sounds like a bad triage screw up but having worked in a peds ED you couldn't pay me enough to be in triage.

My favorite part is the last line: "Experts in emergency medicine often define urgency using certain terms. They say to advise the person in charge that you think the patient has an "emergency medical condition that should be evaluated right away.""

Look for that line in your daily practice for the next couple of weeks.

Saw this.. My god.. the article must have been written by an imbicile. Yes the hospital screwed up big time on that kid, but encouraging people to kick down doors..:eek: Might be challenging the next few weeks.
 
Nothing gets you seen quicker than assaulting the triage nurse. However that's premium content, not advice you give away in a free article.
 
Sad story, especially because the whole thing was unnecessary - it was an infection from pierciing the ears of a 2 year old.
