Are there a lot of people who apply to med school but never get in? Are there some school in the US that accepts most students who apply with reasonable grades and MCAT scores?

Go to DO school, become nurses, chiropracters, podiatrists, physicians assistants (good money)
Shoot themselves in the face....that will be me 🙂
not getting in is NOT an option for me. I don't know what I would do, I'd probably go with hightrump's last alternative.Originally posted by hightrump

"Those schools may have lower avg mcats and avg gpas but they usually receive a ton more applications. As a result those schools are still very competitive to get into"
falacy.
They recieve apps from people who have no business applying to any school. Half of the AMCAS's sent to them are never completed with a secondary, even thought he schools dont screen. It is also well known that applicant that are high about their averages dont get interviewed becasue the school doesnt want to waste time with somone who will ultimatly accept a better school (like you). Also, it is well known that though only 100 students end up going, sometimes at many as 400 acceptances are given, but are simply turned down. Saying a college gets 7000 apps for 100 spots is simply a schools way of trying to impress you.

Geez that makes me feel like I'm screwed both ways. I'm a foreign applicant with no green card, so it's harder for me to get into any school in general. If my safety schools decide not to even give me a chance, I'll end up being school-less next year 🙁

Private schools are much more likely to accept a non-US citizen than public schools. So as long as you kept that in mind I think you are OK. Also I dont know much about this, but would you be considered in-state resident of the state youre from even if you are not a US citizen? That can help you out, as long as you dont have to be a citizen to be a resident. But I know private schools are pretty good about accepting non-residents.
