I am applying to med and den schools, and was offered acceptanc from both.
Even though I decided I am becoming dentist, I haven't thought much about $$$ since I was fortunate enough to be raised in a wealthy family.
So,
Don't get me wrong, I am just curious.

On average, who makes more money? (Yeah, I know it depends, and that's why I said "on average" : )

Look it up. Forums are not places to do research. Unless you want to have people speculate.

What an odd question? I would have thought you would have asked for help in deciding medicine versus dentistry. Don't get me wrong. You must be pretty bright to get into both. However, people who apply to two different professional schools at the same time, may always have lingering doubts and committment to their chose profession. Hope it does not happen to you.

Wow! jeez, good work on getting into both schools! I was curious to see which medical schools and dental schools you got into. I think you got into NYU and BU dental (I think). I tried to look it up, but it looks like you posted something yesterday about not even having an interview at a medical school? Am I misreading this?

Anyway, about your post, my 2 cents is that you shouldn't be concerned about how much a dentist vs. doctor makes because, as you say, you come from money, so it really shouldn't matter to you! You should go with the profession that interests you mosts.

ooo...did someone get caught in a lie?

Average dentist makes $177,000 as a general practitioner. Don't everybody jump down my throught for not getting it right to the nearest $10 increment...I don't feel like looking it up again...but it's around that.

I don't know what MDs make cause I'm not going to be one.

I was accepted to one medical school, but haven't heard back from my top choice schools yet. Even though I set my mind on dental school, who knows what will happen in the future? : ) I applied pretty late for both med and dental schools, and just keep my fingers crossed : (

Please do med as we don't need flip-floppers in d-school .

Another great use for the search button! Well done Cymbidium

You know that there are some DMD/MD prorams out there. Not OMFS, but they are called physician-dentists. http://dental.case.edu/dmdmd/

If you don't have anything to do for the next 10 years there is always OMFS

You have your mind set on Dental school.????😕
It sounds like you are pathologicaly indecisive, or just full of it.
Appying to Dental school is alot of work, the app, essays, each schools requirements, going to interviews. (Not to mention the stress) Then take all the time and energy multiply it by 2 to do med school application process.
So you took the DAT and the MCAT?

Yeah.
I don't know what this is all about.
What is wrong with choosing between M and D?
I took both DAT and MCAT, and got acceptance from one med, but i'm still waiting for others since I applied to like 25 schools!
As far as dental schools go, I got accepted to two schools, and am interviewing with another next month.
and the reason i said i set my mind on going to dental school was bc i didn't want to hurt u guys' ego.
Clear explanation, everybody?

Ok, YESTERDAY in a medical forum you posted.. "I haven't got any interview letter, do I still have hope?"
We don't need unethical liars in either field, do us all a favor and take the LSAT, you'd be of more use in Law.

Is it easy to say
I haven't got any interview, or
I have been accepted to 1 school, and am waiting for 24 interview letters to come?

AND

Which would you feel more like to comment on?

1. I have no interview letter.
2. I have one fat envelop now, and secured my position, but i am still waiting for other spots.

Of course, I didn't do this deep analysis when I posted that thread.
I just wrote that because I wanted straight answers.

You know what?
what is wrong with you guys?
I think you should take LSAT.
I believe in you.
You will make a good judge.
No, how about an investigator?

Wow how stupid. Wasting all that time applying to 2 programs. Wouldn't it have been easier to make this decision before the whole application process? It is pretty hard to believe you would put all the work into taking DAT, MCAT, Dental and Med ECs, Medical and Dental LORs.... pretty dumb.

1. nothing wrong with choosing between M and D... but not by their average incomes alone, don't you think? 😉

2. you can worry less about our ego... where did you get the idea that pre-dents have ego problem? And how would your decision hurt anybody's ego? What's the logic behind this? And you call this whole explanation clear? 😕

This thread is stupid and should not have been resurected.
