I haven't been doing very well on my last couple of exams and I have a big chemistry test tomorrow.

I've studied a lot but on the last chem and calc exams I ended up with B's and C's.
I do well on most of the HW and quizzes and I understand most of the material to a reasonable level however I always do bad on the tests and it's making me even more stressed about my next round of exams this week.

I read a lot about how some people can study very efficiently and take in a lot and I was wondering if anyone here knew how to do that. My current studying habits clearly aren't working out and I was wondering if you guys had some advice for a struggling premed in his first semester. 🙂

I really enjoy most of the material and I don't mind studying but I just don't think i'm doing this right.

The trick is to study for understanding, not just to pass a test.

Talk to a professor or your classmates if you feel you need help preparing.

I definitely need help on this too. I always feel like I know the material really well, but then I end up making stupid mistakes on the exams and end up getting low B's and high C's. I guess I'll chalk it up to being nervous. :scared:

For classes like math and chem I found the key for me was to work as many practice problems as humanly possible. I would do reactions over and over again or find derivatives. You might only get assigned 10 problems for hw but for me it required doing more. If you really struggle consider finding a tutor- I had to have one in calc. My school offered free tutoring in a group environment so I would do that and then see a private tutor once or twice a week as needed. Be sure to get help from someone before you sink!
