How to shadow a psychiatrist?

I'm interested in psych and wanted to observe a psychiatrist to learn more. Unfortunately, the ones I have reached out to do not allow shadowing (I understand of course). I've shadowed a psychiatric internist and a neurologist, and I've had some experience with psych pts from working in my local ED, but I want to learn more about psych now in my gap year when I have the time to do so.

Has anyone been able to shadow a psychiatrist? How did you go about it?

You might have a better time finding opportunities in behavioral health by participating in ABA therapy for children and adolescents with autism.

I haven't been able to find outpatient psychiatry experiences that didn't require some kind of behavioral health technician certification.

My first thought would be that you may be able to get a foot in the door through psychiatrist-led group therapy. If that doesn't pan out, you might just have to wait until you are enrolled in medical school.
