Hi guys,

I'm a premedical student and I having a bit of troubling deciding what to do after graduation. I think I need to spruce up my resume but I don't know how to go about it. I don't know if I should try and get a job in a healthcare setting such as scribe or a do masters or post-bacc work. I will be coming up on 5th year of undergrad in 2017-2018 and I'm going to graduate in May 2018. My state (Montana) doesn't have a med school so U of Washington is really my only state option. My gpa is below average but I went through some personal things with my family sophomore year and have had a good upward trend since. My original plan was to spend my 5th year of undergrad getting more volunteer work and more shadowing experience in.

Stats
Neuroscience BS, Medical Anthropology, BA
MD GPA: 3.33 overall, 3.40 Science
DO GPA 3.39 overal, 3.51 Science
MCAT 517
Research Lab for 4 years, published in 2 papers but was not the primary author
Volunteer high school tutor

You have an excellent MCAT. In the coming year take enough courses to raise your GPA to over 3.4 . Also accumulate at least 50 hours of shadowing and several hundred hours of clinical volunteering (hospital setting would be good). When you apply you will need to apply broadly to many schools and consider all these:
U Washington
Vermont
Quinnipiac
Albany
New York Medical College
Penn State
Drexel
Temple
Jefferson
GW
Georgetown
Eastern Virginia
Virginia Commonwealth
Oakland Beaumont
Western Michigan
Medical College Wisconsin
Rosalind Franklin
St. Louis
Creighton
Tulane
any new schools that open for 2019 (Roseman, Seton Hall, etc.)
Also apply to at least 6 DO schools of your choice. You may need a DO LOR for some schools.
