Don't know what I'm doing wrong.. please help

Hey. So I just ended my first year of college. This last quarter I thought I'm giving 100%. I literally minimized going out and all the good stuff and I was studying like crazy, yet my final grades are B+/A 🙁 I have no Cs but majority of my grades are B+ and my gpa is around 3.3 I think... I don't know what I'm doing wrong. Do you guys have any tips? Because it's bothering me so much... I just wanna cry. I feel like I won't be able to get into med school

You have a lot of time to go. You aren't the first to think that they are giving their 100% but not doing well. The way to study in undergrad is by only stopping when you know all the material covered in lecture and the book. And self testing. If you get your GPA up of course you will be fine, especially if you are Under Represented in Medicine.

International applicants may be from under-represented groups.
Internationals are not inherently a UiM group, though.

If you are an international student, you need stellar grades.. I'm assuming so.

Sorry for the tangent, but 56 primaries???? Hope you are not planning to write all 56 secondaries?

You are an international student? This means you absolutely don't have a green card, and you are not gonna to have one when you apply to the medical school?
Are you Canadian? If not, Great! Then give that up. There are some threads talking about how hard an international students can get into medical school here.
Your stats in the first year seems already very unlikely. Even for DO school it still seems to be little harsh, unless you have a great great great MCAT.

There are other choices. Either you apply to Caribbean medical school, which has poor resources and hard future time for you to go back US for residency.
Or, you apply to phD program and graduate with an excellent resume.
As a more experience non-traditional student, your possibility to get into medical school will increase compared to those traditional students.
Of course, getting a phD is just time consuming compared to Caribbean medical school or so. However it's really harsh for an international students get into US medical school
Very unlikely there is any forgiveness to international students. Once you did bad things, game is nearly over right away.

I have a question, in that chart, when it mentions things like "Legal residents is not in US".
Does it include people who hold a green card?

Sounds like you could benefit from some different methods of studying! Here are some things that have previously worked for me:

1. Printing out lecture slides to take notes from so my computer screen and its infinite possibilities don't distract me
2. Lots of office hours
3. Lots of tutoring
4. Lots of study groups
5. Making my own practice tests
6. Flashcards
7. Mind maps
8. Typing up everything related to a subject paragraph-style without looking at any resources. After, fill it in looking at your notes.

Thank you!!!! I feel like people try to screw me up all the time and don't even give me hope to try to get into med school...

Because it's really hard for international students getting into medical school. You can still try though, but it's just hopeless.
You will find out that tons of US school won't even read you profile, and tons of medical school gave preference to US students even if they said open to the internationals. Those who treat the international students equally as US citizens are like Harvard and Yale. Just take a look of the stats posted in MSAR.

Also, there's a thread talking about the success for international students, take a look their stats.
Nearly all are high in GPA and MCAT, which could made them into Harvard.
International Students who have made it to US Medical Schools
These were old data though, according to recent study, less and less international students would be accepted. Competition just became more serious and complicated.
Please remember, I did tell you the way for getting into medical schools, like applying to DO school or Caribbean medical school, and getting an phD with a great resume.
These are hopes. If you don't think these carefully, then it's just hopeless. No matter what, you will find how hopeless it actually is.
 
I started my first two semesters off as a freshmen with a 3.3 GPA as well. I finished as a senior with a 3.8 overall. I strongly advise using the resources your school has provided for you: counseling centers, tutoring, and career centers. After all, these services are why you pay tuition. I accelerated so much after seeking help from the professionals at my school. Good luck!
