Hi all! As we 4th years are preparing for audition/away rotations, is there advice on what we absolutely should or shouldn't do? What would make you (residents and attendings) give a PD good feedback? Likewise, what would make you say "absolutely DO NOT even look at this applicant"? What can we do to make your lives easier and not shoot ourselves in the foot?

Be on time, be eager, don't leave until asked a couple of times. Remember, you are not only trying to show them you are smart and hardworking you are showing them you are someone that they would want to work WITH for the next 3 years (Peds is three right?)

I wrote a whole post entitled How to succeed on audition rotations... check it out if you'd like but it basically boils down to the above.

Wow that post pretty much answered all of my questions. Thanks!

While I know this is probably program specific, does anybody happen to know when vsas applications normally get approved? Seems like many of my classmates are already approved for away rotations, and I am just sitting in limbo and getting anxious! Thanks =)

You aren't alone! I'm still waiting to hear back from 2 programs (one that starts next month). I think I check my email every 5 minutes :-/

Aww, too bad. . I'm sorry to hear that! I really hate playing the waiting game, especially when it is pretty important stuff!
